Getting started

A crypto wallet allows you to access and use Web3 applications like NFT marketplaces, crypto exchanges, and more. You'll want one so you have more control over your crypto.

Step 1

Why wallet?

Wallets give you custody, or ownership over your crypto. When you hold crypto on an exchange like Coinbase or Gemini, they have custody of your crypto.

Move "on-chain" by moving your crypto from an exchange to a wallet. This gives possession of your crypto giving you complete control in Web3.

Step 2

Pick a wallet

Choose one of the wallets below. Digital wallets are free of charge.

Don't worry, you can always transfer your funds to a different wallet at any time.

It's like you swapping out a normal wallet you'd have in your pocket. Take the money out and put it in the new one.

Step 3

Fund it

Once you have your wallet. You'll need to fund it with crypto.

Some wallets allow you to buy crypto directly in them, or you'll need to send crypto from a centralized exchange like Coinbase.

Step 4

Use Web3 Apps

Once you have a wallet and some crypto in it. Start using some apps like OpenSea or Zapper.

You'll see websites with 'Connect Wallet' as the login. Once you do that, it generates their web application with your blockchain data. Pretty cool.

Wallet's that store crypto offlineMost secure

Hardware wallets store cryptocurrencies offline, making them the most secure way to store crypto. It's like having a thumb drive passcode to access your bank account.
